2020 Tryout Information

Please see below for complete information about BTB tryouts this year, including schedules, the tryout evaluation key, bat requirements, required waiver form, attire and equipment, and more.

In an effort to address and respond to the COVID 19 virus, the BTB Board has implemented several changes for tryouts. These changes have been made in the safety interest of our players and families and meant to limit exposure opportunity. For complete details, please see this letter from BTB president, Jordan Dam. All of the information below has been updated to reflect these new changes.

BTB requests your cooperation with the following precautions that will be taking during tryouts include:

  • Please arrive 15 minutes early to your player's scheduled tryout time and have your player wash their hands in the Dome restroom before checking in. They should also wash immediately following tryouts. Hand sanitizer and wipes will be available in various locations throughout the Dome while supplies last.

  • Parents should not remain in the building during tryouts and will be asked to leave the lobby during their player’s tryout. Please do NOT linger in the lobby while your player is trying out. You may stay in your car, or run a quick errand during that time. Players will be released from their tryout times as a group. Please arrive outside the dome, ready to pick your player up 15 minutes before the end of their scheduled tryout time.

Also, please note that:

  • Apparel will NOT be sold in the dome lobby during tryouts.

  • Baseballs will be sanitized between groups throughout the tryout process.

  • Rubber gloves will be available for parent helpers to use while feeding machines during hitting and fielding tryouts if they so choose.

Apple Valley Partnership

This season we have multiple age levels with low numbers. As many of you know, we have already begun a Firehawks relationship with Apple Valley at the 13A level for the 2020 season. Our two associations have continued to communicate regarding potential options to keep as many players playing Traveling baseball as possible.

Players not making one of the Burnsville teams at their age level will be offered an opportunity to play with an Apple Valley team whenever possible based on combined numbers. Though these will not be official Firehawks teams (other than 13A), it will be another step in the direction of an expanded relationship with Apple Valley for future seasons.

Your signature will be required at the check-in table indicating your willingness to be a part of this option. If you choose not to select this option, your player may still be placed in the BAC In-house program, or have their registration refunded as indicated in your season registration.

Tryout Results

Rosters will be emailed and posted to the website on March 17th. A 24-hour "cooling off" period takes place after the rosters have been posted. Emails will not be read or responded to during this 24-hour period. If you have questions or concerns after the cooling-off period has passed, please email the appropriate BTB contact listed on the Contacts page.
